The second edition of the “Copa America de la liga de futbol especial” is now over. After one week of sharing and exchanging, each delegation of the participating countries is back to its country with a lot of memory in its head. HandiCap sur le Monde is giving you its first impressions.
Even if there is a really high level of game, this Copa is not only axed around football. The cultural aspect and the dynamic of exchanges were as much as important. During the competition, all the players could discover the city of Santiago de Chile; get a moment of relaxation on the beach of El Quisco or discovering the house of the poet Pablo Neruda in Isla Negra. It was the occasion for some of them to discover the sea which they have never seen! During this event, the joy of the participants could be seen on their faces and was rewarding the important work of the organizers and volunteers. National anthems made us shivering while every moment of pause during the games was the occasion for the public to express its happiness on the rhythm of reggaeton and cumbia. The team of volunteers, Argentinian for the majority, gave a permanent good atmosphere to this second edition and their dynamism can be felt during the games. All along the Copa, it was never a question about disability. It is the players’ capacities which were shown to make this edition an inclusive event. Children from the local schools here to support those players never talked about disability but only about players in a competition.
The Copa America de liga de futbol especial enthroned Chile winner 2013 against the Argentinians during a seance of penalties. Colombia arrived 3rd to the detriment of the Peruvian team which does not have to be ashamed about its defeat (2-1).
