After 10 months around the world, HandiCap sur le Monde has just achieved its world trip of good practices around disability. Emmanuelle and Thomas got back to France on July 10th after meeting and working with 25 local organizations in 11 countries. The large-scale project is just finished, but it starts new actions. Good practices, cultural facts, accessibility…so many learning and actions developped that will be the base of many future projects for the organization.
World trip mission : achieved
Emma and Thomas had to faced australien bushfires and Burman earthquakes but also flight cancelations in Colombia or protests in Brazil. Nevertheless nothing stopped them to reach their goal, which was meeting and working with (at least) one local organization in each country in order to get back to France with ideas and actions around disabled people employment and inclusion through sport. Incredible landscapes, culture strength, local people passion, every country has been enchanting and every project with these organizations has been an education.
In nearly one year, the two founders of HandiCap sur le Monde, Emmanuelle and Thomas, have travelled through 11 countries in order to meet local organizations in India, Nepal, Burma, Indonesia, Australia, New-Zealand, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Brazil. Projects that have been developed with these organizations have all been successful and the organization comes back to France with innovative ideas from around the world. Culture, religion, environment, government help, all of these are important factors to realize inclusion actions but HandiCap sur le Monde has discovered that innovative projects come from determined entrepreneurs and organizations will: inclusion through IT in Nepal, competitive company in Australia where disability is forgotten, reversed inclusion in Argentina…all of these have captivated HandiCap sur le Monde who is now willing to share these good practices.
To end it up nicely with Brazil
The brazilian giant has been the last step of this beautiful path. Brazil is rich from its culture to its actions around disability. The two funders have been travelling to Sao Paulo, Campinas, Salvador de Bahia and Rio de Janeiro to meet local associations like APAE, Sindrome de Down, but also politicians acting for change like Mara Gabrili or Romario.
Very similar to France with its policy toward disabled people employment, Brazil is getting ready to welcome the worldcup but also Olympic and Paraolympic games, making accessibility a priority. It has certainly be an important stop for the organization, who comes back to France with many common projects to develop.
